" What is the difference between conscience and Consciousness, my Lord ?" asked the seeker.
"Let us say, your conscience does not permit you to abuse your subordinates in a fit of anger. Yet, every time you are angry, you go on abusing them. Again your conscience will retribute you for it, and this can go on and on. Your Consciousness, on the other hand, will show you the futility of this act, grow you out of it, and in time, even give you a substitute for anger, so that you may still function. Your conscience makes you feel guilty for those who are more deprived than you; Your Consciousness will actually do something about the deprived. Conscience has undeniable value, we cannot do without it, but, it is a beginner’s guide, it must lead you to the senior guide; Consciousness." said Shiva.
" Arjun
must locate Krishna?" asked the seeker.
" Like Arjun," continued Shiva, " conscience is always at war with its cousin, passion. Both of them originate from the heart family, they are both self opinionated, and keep vanquishing each other in turns. Consciousness, is all embracing, so it is open for discussion, without any pre-set opinions, it therefore, has no one to vanquish instead, it admits both conscience and passion in its fold, and keeps redirecting them, till, they harmonise together at the level of oneness, and grow harmoniously together."

" But
did not Krishna align himself with Arjun
against the Kauravas? "asked the seeker.
"Yes,
But you forget that it was the war within Arjun, that Krishna wanted Arjun
to transcend; Since the outside war had already been rendered unavoidable. Consciousness is aware of
outside wars, but their redirection requires a longer time, it begins with the
redirection of individuals" , said Shiva with a deep gaze, " Meditate upon
this.
"What am i supposed to learn, my Lord ?"
" You understand the parallels between God and man, Consciousness and conscience, similarly, there is an episode from Krishna’s life, when he climbed a tree, and watched the Gopis as they bathed. You understand now, that the symbolism was the same, the creator could watch any of his creation. Philosophically, the Gopis, are but your own thoughts, all of which stand bare in front of your consciousness, like clouds under the gaze of the sky. Pure consciousness, therefore, is God, the creator. All else is the created. But, the created is also part of the creator, being its own offspring. So, the thoughts must merge into consciousness. Arjun must get absorbed in Krishna; man, must find his link with the source of creation."
