HOW SHIVA LEFT KAILASH AND WENT TO AMARNATH

“My Lord, there is a strange and reclusive yogi, riding a hefty bull, who wants an audience with you,” said the royal guard.
“A yogi? On a hefty bull? It must be Shiva! Ah, have Him brought here with respect,” said Himavat.
“Greetings, your Highness,” said Shiva in a soft voice.
“Greetings, O Yogi of yogis, Shiva! I am blessed to have you in my Kingdom. Any service for me?”
“Too many people come looking for me in Kailash, and due to some very tragic circumstances,
I cannot be of any help to them... I just wish to be left alone” said Shiva.
“Yes,” said Himavat. “How may I assist you in that?”
“I would like to stay in one of your mountains, instead,” said Shiva,“So that I may carry out my meditations just like I used to, in Kailash,”
“What an honour, Shiva! Of course, please stay in any mountain, stay here! Take this palace, it is all yours!”
“Thank you,” said Shiva softly. “I do not need the palace at all, I just need a cave.”
“A cave? Take any cave my Lord! All the Himalayas are yours, you are Shailendra, King of the mountains” said Himavat.
“ You are too humble, your royal Highness,” replied Shiva softly,“Though we share that epithet, it is you, who are the King of Himalayas in reality.”
“Ah, be as that may be, it is all given by you, my Lord, I may be Himavat in this world cycle, but you shall remain King Emperor of the Himalayas, or any other mountain, as long as this world exists! And truly, as I do know, even after that!” Himavat got up from his throne, and escorted Shiva and Nandi to the palace windows through which they could see the entire mountain range.
The Himalayan snow bound peaks shone brilliantly against the winter sun.
“ Where would you like to go, my Lord? There is Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Manaslu, Nanda Devi, Kamet, Nun Kun...”
“Which is the mountain that houses Shambala?” asked Shiva.
“Ah, my Lord, nice choice. Would you like to go there?”
“Not there exactly, but something like that nearer to Bharata, rather than Mahacina.”
“Amareshwar it is, then,” said Himavat with finality.
“Amareshwar?”
“Near to the most beautiful lake Sati sar, where the great rishi Kashyap meditated on you and Shakti for years…where, indeed Sati Herself had lived when She undertook the most arduous tapasya for begetting you as her husband…”
Shiva said quietly, “Yes, Amareshwar it shall be….”

Everything comes from Shiva and returns to Him.

In the end, you realise that life is a journey to your own Higher self.
Everything comes from Shiva and goes back to Him. This is the Lila of the world play

Some Call the absolute Nirakaar, others cal it  God,  and yet others love Him as Shiva.
Shiva is a paradox. He is the Fountainhead where opposites reconcile. Thus he is an Yogi (ascetic ) and Grihasth (home dweller) , Dhayni (Meditator ) and Nrityak (dancer) , Swami (chieftain ) and Jiva ( humble being) .

Shiva creates - Sristi
Shiva maintains - Sthiti
Shiva Dissolves - Samhara
Shiva hides- Vilaya
and Shiva Himself reveals- Anugraha.
Thus too, His journey is a paradox. That we have just called the end, as a realisation of Shiva, is actually the beginning. Aum Namah Shivaye!

THE SUPREME REALITY OF SHIVA

Inside Shiva's cave, the animals never  disturbed Him as He meditated. Sometimes, He opened His eyes after hours of inward concentration, to see a deer looking at Him curiously! A snake or two cuddled peacefully in a cozy corner was not uncommon either. It was unbelievable, that sometimes, bumble bees hovered around His Kamandalu, desperately looking for the source of a sweet and enigmatic aroma that would emanate almost every time He went into meditation.
Even thesnakes knew that He was the One who existed even before the world began.
He was the One who has been prayed to, even when He was unseen.
And ever since the very first time He chose to make His presence known, Shiva was loved by millions.

EVEN SNAKES LOVE MAHADEVA

The Yogi looked so serene and inviting, that the snake wanted to pour his heart out. All he could utter, was, “I am known to bite even those who feed me, so no one accepts me anymore.”

“Come! Wrap yourself around my neck in embrace”, said the Yogi. “I am known to accept those who are shunned”.

“You ask for me to embrace you simply on the premise that I feel shunned?” asked the snake.

“Yes, I ask everyone to embrace me”, said the Yogi. “Everyone is shunned by someone else. The poor, for example, are shunned by the rich. The rich by the religious, some people shun themselves; even the spiritual are shunned by many. I am a lover of all”.

“But I may not be able to guarantee my nature”, said the snake, sliding up to the Yogi, “I may still bite”.

“Not sure of yourself”, said the Yogi, “ but it is no matter, I am used to swallowing venom created by others. Don’t worry about your bites, they shall enable me to test my own nature from time to time”.

“You are all my own” , he continued, “snakes, pups, men, all. So, your bites serve as a test; do I have the capacity to understand why my own bite me in return? In fact your bites serve not only as a test, but also work as an arrangement”.

MAHADEVA CALLS

You have been in this world long enough to see that all things change.
Have you not understood that nothing remains the same?
You have all wondered , Is there anything that Time does not touch?
You wonder what you should do.
This is what you should do:
Take a good look around you once more, and then,
close your eyes and think about what it is you really want.
Be honest to yourself.
You say it's really not the money and power; then, what is it?
Know for sure what you want.
Are you sure it is God you want?

Then learn the right knowledge about it.
And then, don't just study Godliness,
rahter live Godliness in every action of your life.

Iccha, Gyan, Kriya. This, is the Trisula of Shiva.

SHIVA, THE ULTIMATE YOGI

“There is Shiva tattva and there is Shiva, the Yogi.” Said Rishi Suta

“You mean there are two?” asked Shaunaka. “Now I am really confused, Gurudeva. Please clarify.”

“There is just The One, there has always been One, and there shall always be The One only. Two is only a derivative of One.  A derivative does not change the origin! The One is Shiva tattva, the universal stuff from where all things are made. From where all beings originate, including us.”

“So who is Shiva the yogi?”

“Ah!” said Suta with visible happiness as he took a deep puff of his forest pipe. “Shiva the yogi, is the highest embodiment of Shiva tattva.”

“So, you mean…”

“Yes. After the whole universe is directed by Shiva tattva, there is the entry of the director into His own play, as one of many actors in the act.”

“Oh my God, Gurudeva!” said Shaunaka. “That’s amazing! The director taking on a role as actor; that’s quite a plot on its own!”
“Isn’t it simple?” said Suta. “Why else would the director create a play like that of all life, if there wasn’t a role for Him?” As his smile widened, he added, “And that, my child, is Shiva the yogi. Not two. Still the One.”

“Amazing!” repeated Shaunaka.

“So, too, the whole world was ready to be created; a stage, waiting for Shiva’s own arrival. But there was still one problem.”

“A problem? What problem could God have?” asked Shaunaka.

“Hmm…the problem is, if you already know you are God, you already know that you can do anything , then in a subtle way, it actually lessens the potential to learn about yourself. To be predictable, lessens the play,” answered Suta.
“Ah! I wouldn’t have thought of that, Gurudeva” said Shaunaka in bewilderment. “To be predictable lessens the play, therefore it must follow, that to be less predictable enhances the learning?”

“Yes” Suta smiled, “You are beginning to understand the play of the Divine”.
